Website Redesign

The Opportunity:

Memorial Blood Centers, a non-profit community blood center that serves as the major blood supplier to the twin cities largest hospitals, wanted to redesign its public website to more effectively serve its blood donors and provide support for organizational goals. There had been two failed attempts to complete a website redesign and Memorial Blood Centers was anxious to get a new site launched quickly.

The Approach:

Evantage consultants worked closely with Memorial Blood Centers’ team, providing:

Website Strategy & Plan Development

Website objectives closely aligned with the strategic goals of the organization.

Identification of key website audiences and site functionality.

A two-year implementation release schedule.

Site Specification, RFP & Vendor Selection

An information architecture (site map) that included global- and page-level navigation.

Wireframes illustrating how desired content and functionality would translate to the screen.

Business requirements for each new site feature.

Requirements for a content management tool to allow non-technical staff to update website content.

Technical requirements including hosting, performance, supported browsers and reporting.

RFP and vendor selection.

Delivery Management and Usability

Detailed project plan and timeline.

Weekly status meetings.

An informal usability test with blood donors using a paper prototype of the site.

Assistance with an integrated marketing plan for the site launch.

The Results:

The Memorial Blood Centers website redesign project was completed on time and on budget within six months. The success of the launch more than met Memorial Blood Centers’ expectations.
